Which data exchange arcitectures/product configurations support replicating to an intermediary site on one schedule and then moving those chagnes to a third site as well? Ideally the data would flow in one direction, there can be no writing/updating on "backup" sites. The idea behind this is to offload all the replicating from the primary database so it doesn't have to update the third site directly (two sites at once). The third site has less of a priority. Another reason for the desire to have an intermediary site replicating is that the primary site, for maintenance reasons, isn't going to have time to "catch up" the third site in big chunks if it runs on a separate schedule with a larger interval.

Also, does RealTime backup support the one to many arcitecture?

DX 3.0 64 Bit When?

We are running the 32 bit PSQL 10.10 and DX3.0 32 Bit and the replication service stops on 6 different databases under Windows 2003 64bit, we have an open ticket...

I believe the release date for this product was Summer 2009...

Just curious when this product is available...

Moving DX from one server to another

We have Pervasive 9 installed with DX on one server and need to move it to a new server. I've moved lots of databases in the past but never with DX. Is there a specific process ? I don't want to have to re-deploy as the database is rather large. Thanks.

DX Deploy errors

I recently ran a DX Deploy on a database that was in production (being updated). It seemed to run fine, however it created a very large DXDEPLOY.LOG file. DX Deploy File Copy Help

We are using PSQL v10.10 with Sage BusinessVision. We are looking for a solution that will replciate our databases to our remote office for live use. I have been trying to test with DataExchange over the last few days but can never get it to run correctly.

I am NOT working on live equipment - all a test environment. At this point I am able to get DX Deploy to run and setup my First Site without issue. The documentation has confused me on where to copy what files at the Partner Site. I have read and read and read again the documentation regarding the demoDB data and the Tracker DB. Now I'm to the point where I need to ask for help - can't really purchase it if we can't get it working in a test environment.

My apps data files are stored in here:

S:\BV32\Morad ---> All BTR files I need replicated.

S:\BV32\Morad\Workbook ---> BTR and DDF files I need replicated.

I want the data to be in the same folders at the remote server, same root drive letter, etc.

My XML descriptor file looks like this:

Running this completes fine on the First Site. But after that I'm not sure where to copy files to - some stuff does not match the documentation. The following are created by DX Deploy:

C:\Program Files\Pervasive Software\PSQL\Replication\Templates\MoradDB ---> This contains folders named DX_Morad and WorkBook.

S:\BV32\Morad\DX_Morad ---> This contains all of the MKD files.

Again, I'm not 100% sure where to copy these files it creates. Also, do I need my original data files copied over to the data directory (S:\BV32\Morad) as well?

Replicating Non-Database Files

We recently upgraded to PSQL 10.10 and would like to take advantage of DataExchange's replication abilities to replicate our inventory database to our remote office. We have downloaded the v3.0 trial and have it running and replicating the database files properly. Our application does require other files that are not innluded in the database. These other files are for authentication, report templates, etc.

The DataExchange FAQ states that other non-database files can be replicated, including things like text and Word files. I have looked through the online documentation and can't find anything further regarding this. When I try to add these files using the Deployment Wizard it says they are not database files and can't be replicated.

Any help is once again appreciated. Thank you in advance.

DataExchange Synchronization with v8

Is it possible to use DataExchange with Pervasive SQL v8? The accounting application we have uses v8 and I'm not sure if we can upgrade it to v9. I tried DX v2.8 but of course it asks for SQLv9.

Initial Replication across slow WAN

Initial Replication is taking forever accross a slow link. I'm using the DXdeploy method as indicated in the "Getting Started" guide. It states to perform the following tasks:

Edit the XML descriptor file
Run DXdeploy on the First Site
Verify deployment on the First Site (optional)
Copy the Template to the Partner Site
Run DXdeploy on the Partner Site

My question is simply this: prior to running DXdeploy on the Partner site, instead of copying the blank template and the DX_projectname directory and running the initial replication with the empty skeleton table structure on the partner site, can I just create a cold backup of the data files and compress and copy them over and then copy over the DX_projectname directory from the templates directory instead? That way when I run DXDeploy on the partner site, it is an exact copy and already in sync due to the nature of the cold backup. Or will that just cause issues and/or just blow-up to begin with?

Additionally, other than using a network compression technique is there an option or method to enable the compression of the data being sent across to the partner site(s) in order to speed the replications over WANs ?

Changing a Table Structure in an Activated Database

Like adding or removing tables from an activated database, the Pervasive DataExchange User’s Guide section: “Changing a Table Structure in an Activated Database” 3-32 states:

"This procedure includes deactivating the database, and it is always a good practice to disable any replication schedules before deactivation."

and indicates the following basic steps:

Ensure no users are on the system and/or disable services or other processes that would otherwise be updating records in the data files
Disable all replication schedules
Run a manual replication prior to new schema changes
Clone the associated PDC tables for those tables updated (optional)
Activate the First Site
Sync the updated tables (for large tables, disable L2 cache prior to sync; re-enable when completed)
Copy the updated tables and the new PDC table(s) to the Partner site
Activate the Partner Site
Verify replication
Re-enable replication schedules
Restart any disabled services or processes and let users back in

In both sections Adding & Removing Tables to an Activated Database, the first step was to deactivate the database. As noted above, it indicates this is to be performed, however it is not listed in the steps to follow in that section.

For the PDFE's (Pervasive documentation feedback engineers): It might be a good idea to mention the services and or other processes in addition to just ensure "users" are out of the system. I completely forgot about some background processes that were updating records during my testing and have subsequentially added them to my company's internal FAQ/documentation. This is obviously in addition to the inclusion of the "deactivate all sites" if that is indeed missing..

Please advise.

DXAgent Messaging Service Status Table ?

Dear all,

so i have enabled the Warning Message in Replication Service (DXManager), if no replication at last every xx minutes,

send SMTP Information. Now i recieve each xx minutes a SMTP Mail Database xxx has not been succesfully replicated since date xy.

If i check these database, it means it is still in sync. Possibly this is a old Message. Can anybody explain, wich Message or status is stored in which table and how can i really check, if these replication set is in sync ?

Can i delete / manipulate these status records ?

Is there any other possibility to check errors that occured during Synchronisation ?

Did anybody know a API Interface for DataExchange Status ? I'm looking for a interface to detect, if the DataExchange connection is active (The DataExchange state in the controlcenter, red/green connected or disconnected) and if there is an active replication job running.

Is there any known solution ?

Dxevent.dll not loaded in memory

Hi / I was trying to set up flat file replication.

I deactivated my database dxdeact flatfilerepl

Reactivatived my database Dxact /fi /dl=c:\pvsw\bin\dxevent.dll flatfilerepl

Then I restarted my data exchange service and restarted my DxExchnage Service.

However Dxevent.dll does not show up in memory ( TaskManager - running processes).

If I run the FFCOPY command from the command line it copies the files I expect to be copied!

Anybody know what's up?

System Keys

I was trying set up replication using the Deployment tool. The Deployment tool told me that I needed to rebuild some tables and add System Keys. (I am running MV90 XI 2.0 - does anybody know if adding system keys will adversely effect MV 90)
