File properties for PSQLv10Patch_Server_x86.msp says:

Subject: Pervasive PSQL v10.10 Server Engine (32-bit) Patch 10.31.045

Comment: Updates Pervasive PSQL v10.10 Server Engine (32-bit) installation to version 10.31.045

but the web site says

Notes: This update must be installed on a system with Pervasive PSQL v10.30 or later.

So, do I have to upgrade 10.10 to 10.30 first or not?

Which information is wrong?

Connect remote pervasive database

I have hade the connection to a local pervasive database using the odbc driver and is working well.

Anybody have a litle example how to connect to a remote pervasive database?

I am trying to run a file that was found on a remote computer.

I got a message:

Open semantic file error stat=94

can not open btrv varsemanticfile.error

other computers that run the same file work properly

But, it was removed from this page. Is there a new page where we can look up stat errors?

How to better use an index

I have two tables that I'd like to join.
Table A has a field SKU, and has 10,000 records
Table B has fields SKURight and SKULeft, and has 700,000 records. SKURight and SKULeft may contain the same value if the right and left items are the same, otherwise the values will be
Table B has one index on SKURight, and a second index on SKULeft.

If I do a
Select * from A, B where A.SKU = B.SKURight
I receive a pretty quick response. However if I do a
Select * from A, B where A.SKU = B.SKURight or A.SKU = B.SKULeft
It no longer uses any index (or at least I'm assuming not, it never really finishes and the query plan viewer fails to load the qpf). Using the monitor I can see that it ends up reading an incredible number of records (I haven't let it finish).

Is there another way to do this query such that it will use the indexes on both? Or will I need to do them individually and drop any non-distinct value from the second. And if so, anyone have a good idea on how to do that?

Hi there.

I'm writting a JDBC application and then, i noticed that getGeneratedKeys() method isn't avaliable in Pervasive JDBC driver, so, to avoid new surprises I was searching for a documentation of implemented methods in Pervasive driver. Someone knows where there is something like this? (the JDBC Driver Guide doesn't help much in this matters)

Java Data Types

I'm look for some information on the mapping between Pervasive and Java data types but have not been able to find in the pervasive documentation.

My particular issue at present is the Pervasive BIT type; this looks like a Java Boolean (not boolean) - but I need to be sure.

How to edit a DDF

May be a simple answer to this, but I dont know it. How do you edit a DDF in Pervasive.SQL v10? I need to change a field from a Char field to a Date field.

AddAlias() failed because of DBNames.cfg not found

We are using Pervasive in WindowXP SP2/3.

We used to installed with Pervasive V8.x, V9, and program with Borland C++Bulder V6.x to create DSN by calling TPvSession::ModifyAlias(...)/TPvSession::AddAlias(...) functions.

However, after upgraded and install Pervasive Summit V 10, the programs no longer work, and Creating the DSN by TPvSession::ModifyAlias() or TPvSession::AddAlias() result an exception error about DBNames.cfg not found.

I understand that prior to v10, dbnames.cfg is located at c:\windows, but as in summit 10 , this file is saved at "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Pervasive Software\PSQL".

Is there any new version of c:\pvsw\sdk\pdac\Pdac2IDE.exe that handle the summit 10. version?

In all previous versions of the HTML and Java Help, you could review the documentation structure (i.e. table of contents) in the left pain, and the relevant data in the right pane.

With the "new" one in v10.10, I have been able to see the "All Topics" screen, and I can drill down into the table of contents like always, but as soon as I click on an entry, the TOC disappears.

The way I use the help, I always find myself scanning multiple parts of the manuals simultaneously, especially when looking at SQL syntax documentation and various scalar functions. Is there any way to get the split-screen back with this documentation set?

By the way, I love that the syntax font issues have been finally resolved. This makes these pages MUCH more readable. However, I have noticed that while I can use my scroll-wheel mouse to scroll the "All Topics" screen, I cannot use the scroll wheel to scroll through the documentation text itself. Is this a bug, or just a design limitation of the tool being used?

JDBC Driver Redistribution

In the JDBC Readme (http://www.pervasive.com/developerzone/access_methods/readme_jdbc_10.html) it says:

The JDBC driver for Pervasive PSQL is shipped with the Pervasive PSQL engine. This Pervasive PSQL SDK release adds the following JDBC resources:
...
Files relating to redistributing JDBC driver with your application

The only documentation that comes with the JDBC SDK is the JDBC Driver guide, which doesn't seem to have anything about redistribution. Can you tell me what licence the jdbc driver files are under, and if it's ok to distribute them with our application.
