Hi all, my company is heavily invested on the PSQL platform and we want to see this be a resounding commercial success for you.PCC is very difficult to get running on SLES10/OES2 x64 because of the 32-bit Java requirement. I was unable to get it working at all on a fresh OES2 box with eDir, but on a clean SLES10 it still had OOB issues.
Install
scripts should be more helpful to users who don't have, or have a wrong 32-bit Java on
the machine - especially since many of us are coming off Netware. Maybe
you can have the script back out if the needed Java is not found ? Or
include a Java that helps PCC start ?
Also,
I had to add an export for JAVA_HOME to the /etc/profile which is
*very* inelegant but the only way so far I have been able to get PCC to
run (it even errored in Java first go but now runs).
I'd like to see the scripts be a little more friendly with a view to working OOB on x64 machines. I
know that Java isn't your problem, but out of all of us, you're the
best folks to do environment vars to serve 10.10. Maybe even package a
Java with the released product ?
Thanks,
Richard
