The v9.5 PCC worked fine for me but I can't get the v10.10 to even launch.

After installing 10.10, all of the Java-based components threw an error that implied that Java needed to be updated, so I downloaded and installed the latest JRE.

Now, the Java-based components (BMON, for example) run but the PCC acts like it's going to launch but doesn't.  No errors, nothing.

There's a very good possibility I missed something in the installation & configuration but I can't think what it might be.

I'm running Mandriva 2006, Kernel 2.6.12.18, FWIW.
 

 To get PCC to start, you have to have a 32-bit Java (I think) and find a way to export the JAVA_HOME environment variable and add Java's bin directory to the path. It's like the blind leading the blind for me to try & help with this, but here's how I did it:

 - edit /etc/profile and go to end of file

- add the following lines at the end

export JAVA_HOME=/usr/java/jre1.6.0_05   (->or whatever your Java path is)

export PATH=$PATH:$JAVA_HOME/bin

- save file

There is *for sure* a better way to do this. I hope the install script or RPM finds a way to smooth the Java problems.
 

Thanks, I.V., that finally did work for me, although it was painful.  After I made those changes, to all users' .bashrc files even, and restarted several times, and ran "source .bashrc" and "source profile", I had to just futz around and futz around and finally it just came up!  I have no idea what I finally did.

 I agree with you, the Linux configuration needs to be, if not easier, more transparent or at least better documented.
