Pervasive

We recently purchased Peachtree Quantum 2007, but and we were hoping to connect to the database using an ODBC driver and pulling the data into a SQL database. According to Peachtree's website, it will not be possible to connect to the database in this manner. Because Peachtree is using the Pervasive database, is there a product that we can purchase that will connect to this database and then pull the data into a MS SQL database? Would using a Pervasive product be considered an external source?

Here is a quote from their website:
"Peachtree Release 2007 and Peachtree Quantum 2007 use Pervasive 9.1 as the database engine. At this time, the data is not accessible from external SQL or ODBC data sources. "

Pervasive.SQL as the name suggests is a SQL database and includes ODBC drivers.

However there may be other reasons why you could not connect.
The first that comes to mind is that the database has security on it. This is not uncommon with accounting applications and is typically done to keep users from manipulating the data outside of the business rules of the application.
Another possibility is that while Pervasive.SQL is a SQL database it can also access the data without a SQL schema, meaning that the application is accessing the data files directly through the transactional engine and is not using SQL.
