    error when starting pervasive

    Hi,

In a related post, i mentioned problems with Pervasive 11 SP1 nog starting automatically when the server is booted.

When i look at the pvsw.log, i find these lines:

Any idea what return code 4083 is ? and the 'initialization error', does that ring a bell ?

    What does ECAS_API mean ?

    Tom.

This is from an old article, but the same principles may be helpful:

    03-06-2001 14:27:40 NTBTRV          00000074 system32\NTBTRV.EXE EUCADB02 E                        NTBTRV.EXE failed to load. RC = 4083.

This is a return code from indicates DBU_COMPONENT_NOT_LOADED.
Here are the dlls loaded into NTBTRV.EXE.

So I am pretty sure that 4083 came from W3UPI105.DLL, or from w3scmv7.dll when it tried to load it.

The newer version of ListDLLs looks a bit different:

Some people have had success with forcing a dependency of the Pervasive services on other services.  The most promising seems to be the "Browser" service, but it is unclear as to if this service is dependent on the Logon Service as well, which would prevent the Pervasive engine from starting correctly without a login.  More testing needs to be done...
