Hello, I am trying to open een DDF file in Visual Studio. Our ERP program is using PSQL9. We have to installe the client version to use our ERP. But I want to select the DDF file, so I can access the BTR files. Can anyone help me to find the "pervasive software odbc interface for windows" driver, so I can make a new DSN connection by selecting a DDF file. tnx !!!

The page that you found has information on using Pervasive.SQL 7 -- this is MUCH older than the PSQLv9 that you are using.  Try going here:

And open the white paper "Creating an ODBC Data Source", or check the online help screens that come with PSQLv9 for more information.

What happens if you try the following:

Client DSN:

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)

Click on the System DSN Tab

Click Add

Scroll down and select Pervasive ODBC Client Interface

Enter a Data Source Name (Your Choice), Address (Server Name)

Click Get DSN List

Server DSN:

Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)

Click on the System DSN Tab

Click Add

Scroll down and select Pervasive ODBC Engine Interface

Enter a Data Source Name (Your Choice)

Click Create

Enter a Database Name (Your Choice)

In Dictionary Location Browse to where the DDFs are located

If the data files are in a different location, click add and browse to where they are

It installs automatically as part of the PSQL client.

 

The Pervasive Engine Interface is only available with Pervasive Server or Workgroup Engine.  Pervasive Client only has the Client Interface.  You need an engine in order to access the data. 

For example:

Computer A is the file server.  It has the PSQL Engine installed on it and a Server DSN.

Computer B is the Client.  It has PSQL Client installed and a Client DSN.  The Client DSN talks to the Server DSN.

I have Pervasive ODBC Client Interface, SQL Native Client and SQL Server. The engine interface is missing i think. (I just installed the software again.)

I am installing the Server 64bit.

It's clearly not for me this project. I can connect with the DDF file with Visual 2008. But everytime I want to start the program (just open a datagrid to visualise a table), I receive next program-stop and Visual Studio crashes.  Make sure your program is not set to use "AnyCPU" but is set for "x86" for the CPU type.  PSQL doesn't have a 64 bit driver and it's possible the application is compiling down to 64 bit .NET and is looking for a 64 bit driver and crashes because it can't find one.

I am bak, I have still one question. My program is working perfect. I am connectiong to a local path (hard disk). Now I want to expand my program. I would like to connect to a nework path (server). The ODBC interface does not like my idee. I always receive "the directory is invalid (error 35). I have tried to make a networkmapping, but it's not the answer. how can i connect to a network path? tnx
