Anyone who experienced this problem?
When I try to install the PSQL Client 9.1 on a Vista laptop the installation program ends with
a complaint that the "...path to the My Documents folder contains an invalid character"

Why does the client install need "My documents" path?

 Anyone?

I don't think PSQL 9.1 was ever tested on Vista.  As far as installing in My Documents, it shouldn't.  It should be installing to C:\PVSW (by default) and to the WINDOWS directory (for DBNAMES.CFG). 

I would suggest updating to 9.52 (PSQL 9.5 SP2 with the HotFix).  

You should also look at the Vista for V9 paper (http://www.pervasive.com/documentation/whitepapers/pdf/wp1206b_psqlv9_vista.pdf).
