    Pervasive v10 client install problem/question

I'm trying to install the Pervasive v10 client 32 bit on my computer, I've uninstalled the the 9.5 client and am getting this message during setup:

Pervasive PSQL version 10.0.204.000 is not compabile with pervious versions of Pervasive ADO.NET data providers.  Please remove the previous version before installing 10.0.204.000 or install on another system.

I don't have anything left in Add/Remove programs for Pervasive and I've revbooted so I take that the installer is looking at something in the GAC.  Any thoughts on what I manually need to go remove?

There is a KB (Solution ID: 00018065) that talks about this.  There are two options that are described in the KB.

    1. Placing the 10.0.204.000 in ProductVersion of the Registry.

    2. Use MSI Zap to remove the instance of PSQL from the Library.

Most people have had success with the MSI Zap option.

Re: Pervasive v10 client install problem/question

I think Jay meant to reference the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, not the MSI Zap utility.  The latter is a powerful utility that should not be used by the average user.

Also, the error you are receiving is actually slightly different than the one described in Solution ID: 00018065 so the registry edit in that solution won't work for your scenario. The error message is a result of the lookup of an MSI component (specifically, MSI component ID "{F99024A6-CA8D-45CA-9A3C-05D2CBF1C344}"), which is installed by the PSDK 9.5 installation "Pervasive Data Provider For .NET (9.5)".  Since you previously indicated there are no other Pervasive applications listed in the Add/Remove Programs control panel, my guess would be that the uninstall of "Pervasive Data Provider For .NET (9.5)" has left the MSI component "orphaned" on the system.  The Windows Installer CleanUp Utility should allow you to remove the MSI information for any previous Pervasive application.  Just select those Pervasive applications listed by the clean up utility that are not listed Add/Remove Programs.

Re: Pervasive v10 client install problem/question

I have a different problem. I have a WinXP client with Pervasive 10 client installed. I have two evaluation Servers, one Pervasive 10 32 bit and one Pervasive 10 64 bit. Both are on (different) Fedora 9 Servers. The client can connect to the 32 bit server just fine. But when I try to connect to the 64 bit server,  I get this error message from the Pervasive System Analyzer: "Failure to connect to 192.168.0.9 via TCP due to a Windsock error. No connection to the target machine could be made because the target system actively refused it." Since I set up both servers the same and checked all relevant firewall settings, I don't know why this should be.

    Any tips?

    Das_Goat,

As your issue is different that the discussion in this thread (and appears to be a communication issue rather than an install issue), please post a new topic under the 'General' forum (http://cs.pervasive.com/forums/34.aspx) so the issue can be reviewed by a wider audience.

    Thanks
