Network clients, OES2 and transactional access

    We're planning a migration from our existing Novell Netware OES1 6.5 SP5 server running P.SQL V9.5SP2 to a Novell Linux OES2 (ie Suse Linux 10 SP1, with OES2 services) running P.SQL V9.5SP2.

We have a test Linux OES2 server up and running OK and can access the test SQL databases. However, we don't seem to be able to access files using the transactional interface on Windows PCs with the Netware client installed.

Having copied a btrieve file from the Netware server to the Linux server and mapped a drive to the Linux server using the Netware Client when I try to access the btrieve file in say, the function executor, I get a btrieve error 12 - file not found.

At this stage we'd prefer not to use CIFS/Samba to access the new server as when we migrate the server we want to avoid having to configure lots of Windows clients as the same time.

Is there are way to use P.SQL on Linux with the Netware client on Windows PCs or do we have to use CIFS/SAMBA clients?

Can Function Executor open the file if you specify the file with a UNC path starting with the server's name or TCPIP address?  Is it only failing with a mapped drive?

At the moment neither method works - both return an error 12.

I have a drive mapped to the SUSE server using the standard Windows Netware client and I can do all the normal file operations - create directories, create and delete text files, word documents and the like. I have a btrieve file in one of the directories.

On the SUSE server I can login in as the psql user and do a butil -stat on the btrieve file in the directory but I can't access it from the Windows PC at all.

We seem to be in business using mapped drives and UNC paths with the Netware client now although I'm not sure why!

I did change the P.SQL security to Standard UNIX permissions and reboot the server but on checking the server settings they're back to the defaults!

Hmmm. I need to reproduce this!
