Re: Installing Pervasive 9.5 or Pervasive 10 beta on Fedora 9

Gordon, could you give me some easy help?

I wanted to roll back to ver. 9.52 of Pervasive for two reasons:

    1) I actually had that working, once.

    2) My licenses work with Pervasive 9.52, but not with Pervasive 10. As a hobbyist, working in my spare time,  ten days is not enough time for me to evaluate  Pervasive 10 and get it working.

Unfortunately, I can only find Pervasive 10 on the download section. And though I downloaded and made CD's of Pervasive 9.52, they are all to my knowledge, x86 versions (.i486) because I had no reason before to download the 32bit versions. Besides, when I tried installing Pervasive.SQL-9.52-044.000.i486, Fedora 32 bit said "No Way"

So, could you point me at the link where I can still get Pervasive 9.52 for Linux?

Or, could you point me to someone I could beg for a hobbyist 2 user license for ver. 10 of Linux?

Without some way to proceed,  my whole two years of work trying to move my tiny company off Windows grinds to a screeching halt since this is the one application we can not live without and our experimenting seems to indicate that Pervasive 10 and x86 hardware is not going to work at this time.

I sure hope you can help me Gordon.

As always, thank you in advance for your kind support.

    Das Goat.

Gordon, I found it. I had to root around in the updates and patches section, but I got it. It seems the copy I had was not the lates version of 9.52. I installed the RPM and it fixed all the dependancies and said it installed completely with out errors.

I would still like to know if you know who I can beg for a 2 user hobbyist license.

For now I am back in the saddle. Let me go work on the client side.

Hmmm, now I can not find the Client for 9.52 in RPM format. Only TAR. I guess I will attempt that one, but I would really like to have the RPM file.

No help with the license I'm afraid...

As far as the client is concerned I've checked my archives and there's only tarballs in them for the Linux client. AFAIK version 10.10 is the first to offer the client install in rpm format

Oh man, that really sidelines me. I was able to install the Client via TAR as root, but I can only install the PPC via RPM as the user, so that boxes me in in some way.

If I do rpm -qa | grep 'Pervasive' as the user, only PCC is installed. If I do it as root, only the client is installed. How did you get around this? Install the PCC via TAR? I don't think that file is still available on the Website anymore. Indifferent

Man, I am so close (I think) I can taste it.

Do you run the Pervasive 10 Linux client?
