  • Upcoming Linux release . . interested in testing?

We're getting closer with our next release of Pervasive PSQL, version 10.10 besides offering support for Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista SP1, we will be offering a 32 and 64-bit editions for Linux Server.

For Linux, our primary supported distributions are Red Hat (version 4 and 5) and Linux (9 and 10) as well as some of the other popular disti’s with a kernel 2.6 or higher. We have also added support for Linux-HA (Heartbeat) for customers requiring high availability.

I’m looking for interested parties that want to test and evaluate our upcoming beta, if you’re interested, drop me a line.

  • Windows Vista SP1 . . . Is it supported?

With the announcement that Windows Vista SP1 has been released to manufacturing, the next question was when are people going to be able to download? The Windows Team Vista Blog (http://windowsvistablog.com/blogs/windowsvista/) says updates should be arriving soon for those that were involved in the beta testing as for members of MSDN and TechNet Plus subscribers.

Pervasive has been testing Windows Vista SP1 and will formally announce support for both Pervasive PSQL v9.50 (and higher) as well as our newest version Pervasive PSQL Summit v10.

Microsoft has published many articles on Windows Vista SP1 and I encourage users to download “Overview of Windows Vista Service Pack 1” (http://technet2.microsoft.com/WindowsVista/en/library/417467e7-7845-46d4-85f1-dd471fbc0de91033.mspx?mfr=true) to learn more about this release.

  • Windows Server 2008. . . Released to Manufacturing

With today’s announcement from Microsoft that Windows Server 2008 has released to manufacturing and available March 1, I thought I would give you a “heads-up” on our work with Windows Server 2008. Pervasive has been working with Microsoft and their testing labs to certify Pervasive PSQL Summit v10 for the past year. Once our certification is complete, customers will be able to incorporate Pervasive PSQL Summit v10 and Windows Server 2008 jointly in productions for reliability and performance.

We anticipant our Windows Server 2008 certified beta version available within the next sixty days. In the meantime, users are encouraged to download the existing version of Pervasive PSQL Summit v10 and start performing internal and controlled testing with our current version of Pervasive PSQL v10 and Windows Server 2008 RC versions.

Since Pervasive PSQL v9 does not meet the requirements as defined by Microsoft for testing, we will not be certifying or offering compatibility. For this reason, we encourage existing customers to evaluate Pervasive PSQL Summit v10 moving forward. With PSQL v10 our new 64-bit support will allow users to maximize their next hardware and server investment around 64-bit technology and Windows Server 2008.

As we continue forward with certification and the upcoming Launch Wave (February 27, 2008) more details will be forthcoming.
