Have you taken a trip back using the Pervasive Time Machine?

As many of you may have noticed we have been celebrating the 25 year anniversary of Btrieve! It has been a wonderful experience for our Marketing team to put together this launch around a historic event, how many software companies and technologies do you know that have been going strong for 25 years?

As part of 25 year launch we have on-going web banners running on different sites that reminisce about some of the changes since Btrieve was introduced in 1982, we’ve also created a commemorative logo and launched the now famous Pervasive Time Machine (www.pervasivetimemachine.com) web site.

The Pervasive Time Machine is a look back at some of the key events in pop culture and world events that occurred during certain milestones of Btrieve’s history:

We start with our founding year of 1982 and the launch of DOS 1.25, the founding of Sun Microsystems, the IBM PC starting to take hold and of course, the humble beginnings of SoftCraft in Austin, TX.

1988 is the year that Novell acquires SoftCraft , it’s also Tom Hank’s big movie called . . . BIG, and a TV show about two young kids called the Wonder Years, technology was going strong as well with 45 million PC in the United States alone.

1994 is our Grunge year, with the founding of a Seattle band called Nirvana, a young Prime Minster named Tony Blair gets started in Britain and Btrieve Technologies is created as part of a spin-off from Novell.

1996 was the start of a little internet company called Google, a dance crazed called the Macarena and the Intel chip clocking in at 200MHz, wow!

2007 brings us to today and the recent events of this young year, as they say history is still being written, so I would encourage you to visit this page for more updates.

I think you’ll enjoy the site as much as we did in putting it together; it really gives you a retrospective of the last 25 years. We’re proud to say we have millions of customers and thousands of partners around the world that have contributed to our longevity as that is truly something unique for the software industry!

I would encourage you to visit the site and see some of the events I’ve discussed plus many more, for those of you that have visited, please return as were in the process of adding new content.

As part of the pervasivetimemachine.com site were also offering registered users the opportunity to win two tickets to one of eight destinations through the world . . . so go register and take a trip back.

Enjoy!

-Jim
