  • Greetings from South Africa!

As the Product Manager of PSQL it is important to understand our customers and how they utilize PSQL.

I'm currently in South Africa meeting with Distributors, Partners and End Users and it has really been an informative week. I’m always telling people how PSQL is used in ten’s of thousands of applications, powering millions of users . . . . Well this week I learned about a few more applications and had the opportunity to meet some long standing customers.

I’m proud to see how Pervasive and PSQL is helping deliver solutions and assistance through out Africa. We’re very thankful for our partners and customers and appreciate their efforts in the region.

    Regards,

    Jim
  • Pre-Announcement - PSQL v9 Support for Windows Vista

    Vista Support Announcement:
Pervasive Software announces compatibility and support for Windows Vista for Pervasive PSQL v9 Server and Workgroup editions. With the many changes introduced in Windows Vista, developers and end users should evaluate their migration and adoption choices. For full details download the White Paper Pervasive PSQL v9 Compatibility with Windows Vista to learn about suggested solutions and configuration options.

Note: Prior versions of Pervasive.SQL will not be supported. Moving forward, our next release of Pervasive PSQL (likely called PSQL v10) currently scheduled for the second half of 2007 will incorporate full Windows Vista support and compatibility, offering our customers a smooth and seamless transition to Microsoft's Vista and Longhorn platforms.

As readers of my Blog I thought you would appreciate reading about this before we officially announce to the world.

  • Happy New Year to You... and Windows Vista!

We sincerely hope your 2007 is off to a great start. Here at Pervasive, we're actively working on completing our Windows Vista Compatibility documentation. The documentation is based on many hours of vigorous testing of the various Windows Vista products and releases. More will follow -- so stop by the blog soon!

As part of the compatibility process we have received lots of feedback from our Quality Counsel Partners who have been evaluating Windows Vista. They're telling us their plans on how they will incorporate this newest Microsoft release into their schedules. It would also be good to hear from you too.

So for this blog installment, I thought I'd ask you a few questions and get your feedback on Windows Vista:

    1) Have you tested Windows Vista with your application?
    2) How soon do you plan on adopting?
    3) If you haven’t tested, why not?
    4) And lastly . . . . Is Windows Vista going to be as popular as Microsoft and others predict?

My research had found that most developers have done some basic testing, but overall they're keeping a wait-and-see approach. For some, adoption could be 12 to 18 months away!

I'm interested in what you think -- send me your thoughts and opinions.

    Regards,

    Jim
