Pervasive at JavaOne 2009

This year's JavaOne was a great success.  It was vibrant, and filled with optimism for the future of Java.  Pervasive was there as well showing off an amazing demo using Pervasive DataMatcher and Pervasive DataRush.

The demo scanned through an 85k+ set of CRM accounts data in CSV format running a fuzzy matching algorithm called Levinstein distance while fully utilizing a two processor, twelve core AMD Opteron system taking ten minutes to do some two billion comparisions. The amazing part of the application is that my team wrote the demo using a quad core box and it was a simple matter of copying the JARs over and the application fully utilized the twelve core system and finished in one third of the time required for the quad core system.  Pervasive DataRush makes it easy to write concurrent Java code without the headaches associated with dealing with typical synchronization issues and applications written in Pervasive DataRush to automatically scale from four, eight, sixteen cores and on up without the need for recoding, rearchitecting, or recompiling.

The most popular person at JavaOne though was Chester, the Pervasive DataRush mascot.  He was even in appropriate conference attire as well, thanks to friends at AMD and Sun.
